Competing Skipper 2006 -- John Baker, Team Canandaigua, NY
John started sailing in 1985 on Interclub dinghys and Thistles. Sailing year around, he rapidly became a proficient crew and then skipper. At the same time, sailors from other fleets noticed his enthusiasm and John was inivted to crew and skipper on J-22's, J-24's, J35's, J-105's( at the last two NHRA national championships) Beneteau 40.7's and various other PHRF boats in the 30-40' range. While the Thistle class is his favorite, he has competed often with some of the best J-24 sailors in the country. John is looking forward to debuting as a skipper in this year's NHRA regatta and bringing back the crew he sailed with at this regatta the last 2 years: Thistle and J24 sailors Mike Ingham and Bobby Byant and Thistle sailors Joy Martin and Don Stehle.
