Team Rochester, New York - Keith Burhans, Skipper
Keith Burhans(middle)on board Sonar at the IFDS 2001 World Championship in St. Petersburg, FL

Keith Burhans and his team are looking forward to competing in their first National Hospice Regatta Championship. Fresh water sailors from Rochester, NY, teammates Marc Fischer, Terry Shannon, Bryan Burhans and Still Uninvited, bring with them experience in many one design fleets including Soling's, J/24's, J/22's, C&C 35's, 8 Metre's and Sonar's.

Keith has been a member of the US Disabled Sailing Team since '98. Sailing in Sonar's, he teamed up with quadriplegic skipper Paul Callahan and and fellow amputee Corky Aucreman to represent the USA in the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games. Their best finish in international competition has been a 2nd in the 1998 World Championships. Actively campaigning to be the USA representative in 2004 Athens Games, the team held the #1 ranking on the US team in 2002.

Keith and his wife Susanne, daughters Kristen and Allison live in Irondequoit, NY and are members of Rochester Yacht Club. They enjoy cruising on their 40 year old wooden 31' Pennant Class sloop "Balynda"on Lake Ontario. He is president of The Harry H Moore Corporation, which distributes maketing and sales promotion products. He serves on the BOD of Rochester Rehabilition Center.

Keith's family have had first hand experience with Niagara Hospice, as they assisted their family in 1995, with the death of their father, Bill Burhans. "Until someone has had a first-hand experience with Hospice, it is extremely hard to imagine all the facets that their services address. The compassion, caring and leadership during this emotionally draining event is remarkable. Thank you Hospice, for all that you do!"
