We have met our goal! The 4th Annual Toronto Area Hospice Regatta, presented by Procom and the Shotgun Fund has raised $15,000 for Perram House, the residential hospice in downtown Toronto – taking the total raised over 4 years to be over $100,00.  Thank you everyone who helped accomplish this – you should all be proud.

The two-day even, which wrapped up under sunny and breezy conditions Sunday June 19 th, attracted 50 boats from eight One Design Classics.

The Race Committees were able to complete the maximum number of boars proposed under ideal conditions and the results were announced during a ceremony at the National Yacht Club on Sunday.

What is the Toronto Area Hospice Regatta?
* A First Class One Design Regatta
* Its purpose is to raise general awareness for Hospice care
* It gives an opportunity for sponsors and racing sailors to raise awareness and dollars to support hospice care through a community event.
Where?
* The National Yacht Club is the proud host of the 2010 Toronto Area
Hospice Regatta, 1 Stadium Road, Toronto, Ontario.

Regatta Overview
* One Design Fleets - Beneteau 36.7, 10R, J-22, C&C 115, Melges 24, Melges 20, and Star fleets are confirmed
* The Regatta Organizing Committee currently is inviting local fleets
* Lake Ontario Championship for the Melges 24
* Canadian Championship for Beneteau 36.7
* Is now a member of the National Hospice Regatta Alliance www.hospiceregatta.org
* Professional Race Management – drawn from participating yacht clubs in the GTA
* Race Courses – at least 2 circles

The 3rd annual Toronto Area Hospice Regatta, presented by Procom and ING Direct, has raised more than $20,000 for Perram House, a residential hospice in downtown Toronto.

The two-day event, which wrapped up under sunny and breezy conditions Sunday June 20th, attracted 45 boats from seven One Design Classes.

This two day event will involve One Design Fleets with as many as 50 racing boats participating. Affiliated with the National Hospice Regatta Alliance in the United States, the Toronto regatta is open to boats in the following classes: Beneteau 36.7, 8-metres, C&C 115, Melges 20, and Melges 24 just to name a few. If you want to race or just watch, this regatta promises to have something for everyone. Skip or crew a boat or watch from a spectator boat.

SAILORS RAISE $25,000 FOR PERRAM HOUSE AT THE INAUGURAL TORONTO AREA HOSPICE REGATTA

Toronto, Ontario – June 23, 2008: The National Yacht Club is pleased to announce that the 1st Annual Toronto Area Hospice Regatta held on June 21 & 22, presented by ING DIRECT, was a great event raising $25,000 for Perram House, a residential hospice in downtown Toronto. This two day event attracted 30 racing boats from across Ontario and the United States.

Affiliated with the National Hospice Regatta Alliance in the United States, this is the first Canadian regatta giving sailors a chance to qualify in subsequent years for the national championships. Beneteau 36.7 boats competed in the Canadian championships at this regatta.


Winners in each one design division are as follows:

About Perram House:
Perram is a pioneer in residential hospice care in Toronto, offering palliative care to individuals who have a limited life expectancy. In the spirit of compassionate care, Perram House has roots in the community that extend back to 1988 as The White Light Hospice, founded by Anne Norris. In 2003, the hospice closed its doors to reorganize, rebuild and renovate, and emerged as Perram House in 2005, named after the building’s owner, Mary Anne Perram.
