Hospice Regatta on San
Francisco Bay
July 22-23, 2006
The 2006 Regatta will coincide with the 100th
anniversary of Sutter VNA & Hospice, which was founded in 1906
in response to the San Francisco earthquake and fire. The organization
went on to found one of the nation's first hospice programs in 1977.
The 2006 centennial Hospice Regatta is expected to draw great attention
in Northern California to the value of compassionate end-of-life
care.
Sutter VNA & Hospice Foundation Chairman Michael Ratiani will
also serve as Hospice Regatta Chairman. Racing will be off the
San Francisco city front, on the magnificent San Francisco Bay,
and onshore events will be hosted at the elegant St. Francis Yacht
Club. For more information, please see www.suttervnaandhospice.org

Steady winds,
intermittent sunshine and a balmy 65 degrees made Memorial Day weekend
perfect for competitive sailing at Hospice Regatta 2001 on San Francisco
Bay. 67 boats in 6 classes raced for hospice and the opportunity
to compete in the NHRA 2001
championship. The overall victor was Jitterbug, a J105, skippered
by Chuck Eaton.
The J105s also came in first in a friendly fundraising competition
among fleets, led by Eden Kim, skipper of Whisper 355.
On Saturday night sailors, sponsors, guests and volunteers danced
to the music of Michel Bastian and the All Stars at a post-race
party. On Sunday, class winners and the first
overall victor, Chuck Eaton, accepted trophies at an Awards Ceremony
emceed
by Dennis O'Donnell, KPIX sports anchor. A silent auction and raffle.
Organized by VNA & Hospice Foundation and its volunteers,
this 3rd annual San Francisco Bay Hospice Regatta raised over $83,000
to support compassionate end-of-life care provided
by Sutter VNA & Hospice, a non-profit community based agency.
The major sponsors whose generosity made this event possible were
Sutter Health, KPIX, Volvo, Golden Gate Bank, Fogarty & Watson,
LLP., Mr. Jeffrey Oakes, The Gap Foundation, and
Select Data. A special thanks goes out to all our in-kind donors
for raffle and auction items.
