We have sailed together for many years on Lindy. She is a 37' wooden sloop, designed by Doug Peterson and built by Eric Goetz in 1982. Our primary area of sailing is the eastern end of Long Island Sound and Lindy is considered one of the more active boats in the Eastern Connecticut Sailing Association. In addition to the traditional weekend buoy races, we also enjoy the long distance races. Lindy has participated in three Marblehead-Halifax races and in the last seven Newport-Bermuda races.
We sail out of Niantic Bay Yacht Club, a small sailing club in Southeastern Connecticut. Niantic Bay has several active offshore boats but our main emphasis is on one-design sailing (Atlantics, Lightnings, Lasers, 420s, Optimists, and Blue Jays). Thanks to the efforts of Larry White and Nancy Healy, we were privileged to have hosted the 2nd local Hospice Regatta in the United States which Niantic Bay has continued to host for the past 17 consecutive years.
