Competing Skipper 2007 -- Mike Hoskins
2006 Michigan City Yacht Club Hospice Regatta Champions:

Skipper: Mike Hoskins
Crew: Paul Schroeder (Bow)
Sue Ellen (Spinnaker Trim and Middle Crew)
Max Williams (Genoa Trim and 1st Position)
We race a J-24 (Julia’s Kestrel) on the Great Lakes out of Michigan City, Indiana. We are strictly weekend sailors who knock it around the beer cans with a 12 -16 other local boats on Saturdays. We’ve been together as a crew for the last 4 years. We’re a fairly diverse group working in banking, sales, civil engineering, and nuclear power. Hope we don’t draw any Green Peace activists.
Our club, The Michigan City Yacht Club, and the St. Joseph River Yacht Club, 30 miles up the beach on lake Michigan, have gotten together the last two summers to compete in the local Hospice race, The Dunes Cup. Last year the winner was Jeff Alisch from St. Joe. This year we just beat him out for a chance to go to Annapolis ourselves. Having followed the results of last years Hospice Championship, we realize that we will likely be one of the least experienced crews out there. None the less we’ll show up ready to race. Our goals are to raise awareness and support for Hospice, sail our best, and enjoy the experience.
See You There
Mike Hoskins
