Our team was thrilled to win the 7th annual Harford Hospice Regatta. The regatta set a new record by netting over $66,000. All proceeds benefit the adults and children served by Harford Hospice, a member of Upper Chesapeake/St. Joseph Home Care. I believe Hospice to be an outstanding organization and an extremely worthwhile cause to support as I do in both Harford County and my hometown in central PA.
I grew up sailboat racing in the eastern Long Island Sound in the 70s and 80s. After moving around the country and a long hiatus from racing I found a competitive and fun J24 fleet to be part of sailing out of Havre de Grace Yacht club. The club runs a well attended Thursday night series with 4 fleets as well as other weekend regattas. The J24 fleet is very active with 10-15 boats on a Thursday night as well as we are represented at most national level regattas as well as the worlds.
The team I am bringing to the nationals sailed together many times this year in a variety of boats. They hail from Chesapeake Bay ports including Alexandria, Solomons, Baltimore and Havre de Grace. They were all excited to support Hospice and race in my J24 at the “delayed” Harford Hospice regatta. We look forward to going to Annapolis and racing with crews from across the country in support of Hospice!
