John Vanderhoff and team will again represent the Harford Hospice
Regatta, in the 2003 National Hospice Regatta Championship, second
year in a row.
John has won the Harford Hospice Regatta's daysailer class for
two years. His sailboat racing career started on the Chesapeake
Bay after finishing his Army tour of duty at Aberdeen Proving
Ground. For a few years he competed in PHRF, then purchased a
J/24 in partnership with Ralph Skelly and raced that for awhile.
Then came the Star boats.
About 1980, he crewed on a Star with Bob McVey and subsequently
purchased one. Presently, six Star boats later, he actively races
on the Chesapeake Bay during the warm months, and on Biscayne
Bay in the winter. He has won the Star Chesapeake Bay High Point
trophy once, and Masters division in the Star North Americans.
